KUALA LUMPUR: The newly built Selera Lembah Pantai hawker centre is slated to open soon.
The hawker centre located next to the Klinik 1Malaysia Kerinchi in Lembah Pantai, here, will house
over 100 units of food stalls when it is launched around middle of this month,
according to schedule.
The project initiated in March last year was to relocate the hawkers in Jalan Bukit Angkasa, who have been operating for many years in their makeshift stalls on the pedestrian walkways.
This had cause traffic jams as the hawkers' customers parked indiscriminately and illegally by the roadside.
The ministry's deputy secretary- general (Operation & Urban Wellbeing) Datuk Adnan Mohd Ikshan is scheduled to visit the new hawker centre this morning for a briefing session with the project developer, Amona Group of Companies.
"City Hall will tear down the makeshift stalls and build a boulevard walkway," said Raja Nong Chik after accompanying Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to the Lembah Pantai community centre recently during his city walkabout.
Muhyiddin also announced the approval of two school projects in Lembah Pantai. They are the development of a primary and a secondary school in the area, as well as the upgrading of a secondary school in Bukit Kerinchi, which will come under the 10th Malaysia Plan.
