Kerinchi residents

to choose developer

FOR the first time ever in Kuala

Lumpur, a selection process will be held

for fl at owners to choose a developer for

rebuilding of their property without any

political interference.

Federal Territories and Urban

Wellbeing Minister Datuk Raja Nong

Chik Raja Zainal Abidin said 480 PKNS

fl at owners in Kampung Kerinchi will

choose their developer via balloting at

8pm on Friday at Sekolah Menengah

Kebangsaan Sri Pantai, Jalan Kerinchi

Kiri, Lembah Pantai.

“Four companies have shown interest

to carry out the project since the

tender to rebuild the fl ats was opened

in November,” he said last week.

He said prior to voting, the ministry

will hold a briefing to introduce the

companies and their development

plans.

Counting of votes would be carried

out openly and the results would be

announced on the night itself.

Raja Nong Chik hoped that with the

new selection process there would be no

more allegation of political interference

or bias in the selection of developers.

“This move shows Barisan Nasional’s

sincerity in helping the poor to enjoy

a more comfortable life in the city in

line with the slogan ‘1Malaysia, People

First, Performance Now’ mooted by the

prime minister,” he said. – Bernama
